The Italian Crossbow Shooting League is a founding member of CIANS (Italian Committee of National Historical Associations).
The institutional role
The Committee was established in response to the need of the Italian reenactment sector to obtain legal recognition as a specific cultural activity, so that it could work with Mibact to develop the necessary policies to support an activity that is largely voluntary and involves thousands of enthusiasts in Italy.
CIANS has become the sole representative in dealings with institutions and the national government regarding both the technical and economic development of the sector. In fact, even bureaucratic procedures have been streamlined, given that with a single meeting, with a single representative representing everyone, all legal, legislative, and technical information is forwarded and then shared with all the different “branches,” such as artists, associations, institutions, artisans/exhibitors, and all other organizations that are part of it.
This is done through the web portal of the Italian Committee of National Historical Associations. Visit the website.
The technical and visibility role
This role is performed by the web portal, which has become the census of the national reenactment sector, where all the sectors that make up Italian reenactment are present, from competitive groups (archers, crossbowmen, historical games, pali and quintane, flag throwers, etc.) re-enactors, artists, artisans/exhibitors, institutions and associations, and all partners who collaborate in the training and promotion of all members and enthusiasts.
In addition to this, the web portal was created for associations, enthusiasts, and tourists looking for events to attend.
– For Associations
• To create a container that encompasses the events of all federations and associations that have a common denominator.
– (imagine a Google dedicated to our events)
• To give every association the opportunity, through a web space within the portal, to publish photos and content and promote their events through the Events section.
– (with an innovative tool that can be adapted to mobile devices)
• To have a single promotional channel, to keep enthusiasts up to date on everything related to “Historical Reenactments.”
• To promote their events, which is essential for individual associations, giving everyone more strength, because they are part of a larger and more widespread context, which also makes use of communication from other groups to publicize their events, optimizing promotion costs.
– For Enthusiasts
• Have a search engine that allows events to be identified by:
– Event type,
– Event period,
– Proximity of the event (geo-location via mobile app)
• Keep interested parties up to date on upcoming events via app notifications and emails.
• To create a new tourist movement, based on those who travel to see events of this type.
• Provide the opportunity to purchase handmade and other items online from “stores” belonging to the portal’s online shopping center that sell products related to history, reenactments, or other topics related to the sector.
• To create an economic microcosm that revolves around our events, starting with the event itself, passing through the tourist flow that the event generates, and ending with the economic aspect of sales by our artisans in the sector.
Fairs, Festivals, and Cultural Events
In addition to serving as a source of information for foreign and domestic tourists seeking out Italy’s wonderful traditions, and for Italians looking for beautiful shows scattered throughout our territory, the portal can be a sounding board for all cultural events in the sector, such as:
• Fairs (Arms & Luggage, Customs & Traditions, etc.)
• Festivals (Medieval Festival, etc.)
• Study Centers (Nundinae, etc.)
• Forums (States General Historical Reenactment, etc.)
These events can also be used to identify potential sponsors for the association to raise funds.
During trade fairs or various events where the Cians stand will be present.
