The Associazione Contrade San Paolino (ACSP) was founded in Lucca in 1991 and became operational in 1994.

It has been registered in the volunteer register (Law 266/91) since February 6, 2004, under number 31, and is included in the regional list of associations and events dedicated to historical reenactment and reconstruction (Regional Law 5/2012).

Every year in Lucca and its province, we organize historical and cultural activities and reenactments of events that took place in the past, as well as historical games linked to the history, culture, and traditions of our territory. We are affiliated with the Italian Crossbow Shooting League (LITAB) and in 1995 and 2001 we proudly represented Lucca by winning the Italian Championship title in large crossbow shooting. In September 2003, we organized the 19th LITAB National Large Crossbow Championship, winning the bronze medal.

Our crossbowmen and extras wear costumes from the mid-1300s, the golden age of the crossbow.

Famous for its historical monuments and intact 16th-century city walls, Lucca is one of Italy’s most notable cities of art. Officially of Roman origin, but likely built on earlier settlements, Lucca maintained its autonomy as an independent state for many centuries, until shortly before the unification of Italy.

Closely linked to tourism, it also thrives thanks to industry and lively small and medium-sized businesses (the paper mills scattered throughout the province are important at the national level).
